The art of making craft and different kind of goods by hand is said handicraft. Art and Craft peace of mind .In the ancient years the people were used to make some household and daily utility articles by hand with different kind of natural materials like clay, stone, wood, sandstone and metal which were found as in their areas. In that year’s most of the people lived in small villages and tribal areas.

The Indian handicraft in modern India is very different by the past years .All the states and regions have their separate identity for its handicraft products  like Moradabad is known for metal craft , Jaipur is known for  wooden handcrafted furniture and Panipat is known for handmade rugs and mats ,eastern states for bamboo crafts and south for coconut and sea products.

North East Handicraft

Whole northern eastern states as located at the top of India said or known as seven sisters has its separate identity for tribal and bamboo products. The states are West Bengal, Manipur, Mizoram, Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam  and Orissa. The people here use wood different kind of stones, bamboo products to make beautiful crafts and Eco friendly handicraft. The product  are paper mesh items, bamboo products artificial flowers, small wooden pots, bamboo jewelery, small sandstone and beautiful colored clay products ,metal products ,Paintings  and so on.

Stone pottery is also a unique technique of making pottery products. In this technique the stones are  used to make beautiful colored ceramic pottery products. First the craftsman  collect the stone from the mountains and crush them into pieces and crush it to make powder to make the clay, after that they mould that clay into beautiful pottery products like mug, kettle, plate  and other pottery crafts .Mizoram has a rich look multi variety and colour full handlooms said Puan.Puan is the multi colored dress the traditional wear of mizo ladies. 

Orissa has a large tribal area in the states and the people here make a lot of paper mesh products these products seeks rough but beautiful colored and designed. Orissa is also famous for palm leaf paintings.Bihar states known for its handmade Madhubani paintings.

North West And Central India Handicraft

 North Indian craft is different .Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh  are popular for paper mesh handicraft, wooden handicraft and woolen products. The woolen products of Kashmir are very popular all over the world .Ladakh is famous for copper craft and rugs, the ladakhi people makes the beautiful hand carved antique looking  copper products. The artists of Kashmir crafts the beautiful walnut wood products like animals, pots and grocery items. Northwest and central part of India Rajasthan has became famous for wooden handicraft and wooden furniture in the recent years with a heavy foreign demand. Jodhpur, Jaipur, Jaisalmer and Barmer are the main centers for this. Jaipur is also known for its marble crafted statue craft and Sikar is known for its Bandhej sarees.
Saharanpur in utter pradesh is now a well known name for a variety of handicraft articles in wood and another items check here. 

 

Kutch in Gujrat state is also famous for its beautiful kutchi handicraft articles like beautiful colored hand  embroidered  clothes ,bed covers, luxury quilts wall hangings ,wall decorative items, silver jewelery , kutchi bandhej and wood carving items.
